Roadmasters produced between 1936 and 1958 were built on Buick's longest non-limousine wheelbase and shared their basic structure with entry-level Cadillac. From 1991 through 1996 model years it was the marque's largest vehicle.

History

1902 – David Dunbar Buick founded the Buick Motor Car Company in the US city of Flint, Michigan.
1903 – release of the first car designed by the founder.
1904 – William C. Durant becomes the company’s manager; a new model B with a two-cylinder engine is produced.
1908 – joins General Motors. It was sold about 8 thousand cars of this brand.
1914 – the first 6-cylinder Buick appeared.
1925 – the use of 6-cylinder engines on all cars was started.
1931 – all cars use 8-cylinder in-line engines. There are new families of cars Special, Century, Roadmaster and Limited.
1934 – independent spring suspension of the front wheels.
1936 – disc wheels instead of spiked and V-shaped windshields instead of flat ones.
1938 – spring suspension of the rear axle instead of the spring suspension.
1939 – the longest and most prestigious Buick – the eight-seater limousine of the Limited series, model 39-90L was released.
1940 – was introduced an additional fifth series (50, it’s Super).
1948 – release of new model Roadmaster. For the first time on the “Buicks” appears AKPP (optional, only Roadmaster).
1949 – curved windscreen instead of V-shaped.
1953 – created model Skylark. Created a new V-shaped “eight” with a capacity of 164 hp. for the Super series and 188 hp – for the Roadmaster series. The voltage of the on-board electrical system is 12 V instead of the previous 6 V.
1979 – production of compact cars of the Skylark family started. After that, with an interval of a year come the models Century and Skyhawk.
1984 – release of the Riviera Coupe. First show of the Park Avenue model.
1987 – The Regal model was shown in Los Angeles.
1992 – release of the new generation of the Le Saber model.
1997 – the release of the new generation of the Century model began.
1998 – presentation of the Signia model took place.
1998 – Buick subsidiary of the concern General Motors produces relatively inexpensive single-type, full-size front-wheel drive cars of the middle class for the American market.
